About Us

Strong Women Healing Their Community (SWHTC) started as a grassroots effort to uplift and empower women. It was founded in 2015 in Lynwood, California. We were founded by a group of grassroots community activist in search of training and developing leadership among girls and women. For the last several years, SWHTC has hosted its annual Strong Women Healing Their Community Women’s Empowerment Conference with the goal of providing educational workshops focusing on current issues impacting women. Throughout the years, our participants have utilized the SWHTC network as a resource to address various issues impacting their lives like domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health and advocacy in schools. This year the group has set out new goals that we can only meet with your support. With your sponsorship, we can continue to do the work necessary to uplift and empower women in our community FREE.

Our Mission

Healing often involves a “crisis”. This is where we feel worse before we feel better. This is quite common and an important step in our healing process. Strong Women Healing Their Community (SWHTC) is a group of women that gather to create change, heal neighborhoods, and create opportunities where their fellow women can take responsibility and leadership roles. Educating ourselves about what is happening around us is key in being able to make a true difference! SWHTC understands that we may require a series of healing sessions depending on the issue at hand; with an understanding that many issues build over time. Therefore, we cannot expect to heal our communities overnight.

Our Purpose

To unify a diverse group of strong women who empower each other to create change! For this change to occur, we must have a greater vision, seek knowledge, and partnership with the community-only then will this change occur.

Our History

In 2015 inside a garage a conversation was initiated by Maggie Godoy which included four lady activists about the need for a grassroots community-centered women’s group focused on female empowerment. The seed was planted for the initiation of Strong Women Healing Their Community (SWHTC) via the exchange of ideas among the group. Under the leadership of Mrs. Godoy, Strong Women Healing Their Community (SWHTC) was founded and on April 16, 2015 the first women’s conference came to life. Maggie possesses a high level of integrity and understands the importance of humility, and values palabra (word). She is a strong leader who inspires and empowers others to become leaders. Mrs. Godoy is someone who teaches others that the most powerful way to gain control is to delegate and give it away. Each year the group grew and drew attention of many phenomenal women who were hungry and eager to learn. Strong Women Healing Their Community (SWHTC) has evolved over the years. Currently, it is officially a corporation in the state of California and waiting for its non-profit organization status.
